Im trying to buy a new ergonomic office chair for my home office setup since my back is completely killing me after working long hours all week my budget is around 150 bucks max. So I was looking at Office Depot because theres one right down the street from my apartment and I could just pick it up today instead of waiting for shipping. I saw the chair online for 135 on some price tracking site called CamelCamelCamel or maybe it was Google Shopping I checked a few different ones tbh and the price looked way lower than what Office Depot is showing on their own regular store site. My logic was that if I pull it up on my phone at the register they might match it. But then I started reading their official policy online and it says they match major online competitors like Amazon or Walmart but it gets super vague about third party price trackers or historical price comparison tools. I read on some random Reddit thread that employees will do it if its shipped and sold by Amazon directly but other people said store managers just say no to any weird tracking sites. So I was thinking do they actually accept those price tracking links or am I just gonna look dumb trying to argue with the cashier over a fifteen dollar difference...

No way, I literally just dealt with this yesterday. Small world.

> I was thinking do they actually accept those price tracking links or am Honestly, price tracking sites like that wont work for a match because they just aggregate third-party sellers. Office Depot is super strict about who they compete with. Be careful trying to argue that at checkout. I would suggest just looking for any comfortable mesh task chair from brands like Flash Furniture instead. You cant go wrong there, and they fit that budget easily without the store hassle.

Late to the party here, but I dealt with this exact scenario last week while upgrading my workstation seating. Price tracking sites aggregate from historical data and third-party vendors, which violates standard brick-and-mortar authorization criteria. Office Depot's point-of-sale system cross-references specific merchant SKUs against a whitelist.

  • Amazon must be listed as the direct merchant of record.
  • Walmart.com works if it is not a marketplace vendor.
  • Third-party aggregators fail the SKU verification check. I ended up just verifying the direct Amazon listing on my phone while standing in the aisle and saved myself the headache at the register. The process works smoothly as long as you bypass the price trackers entirely and go straight to the primary retailer source.
