Does Sephora do price adjustments if an item goes on sale?

Ugh im so annoyed right now and honestly sorry if this is a stupid question but I rarely ever shop at Sephora so I have no clue how any of their store policies actually work.

So heres what happened. I bought this fancy Tom Ford fragrance set for my sisters 30th birthday present 3 days ago online. It was $185 which was already a huge push for my budget this month but I really wanted to get her something nice. I just logged into the app today to track the package and literally the exact same set is now listed on sale for 20% off. Thats almost $40 cheaper! I honestly felt sick to my stomach when I saw that.

My logic was okay fine no big deal, I will just chat with customer service online or call them and they will refund me the difference since I literally placed the order 72 hours ago and the box hasn't even arrived at my apartment in Chicago yet. Like in my head, any major store would do that right? But then I started thinking wait, maybe I should check first, so I tried looking it up and now im completely confused. Some old forum posts were saying Sephora NEVER does price adjustments under any circumstances and that you have to return the item completely and rebuy it. But then someone else said if it goes on sale within 7 days they might do a one time price match?

Im just sitting here feeling so stuck because returning it seems like such a massive hassle. If I mail it back, will it take forever to get my money back? Her birthday party is next Saturday so I don't really have time to play games and wait weeks for a refund just so I can reorder it. Can I just bring the shipping box into a physical Sephora store and ask them to fix the price or am I just completely out of luck here?

I feel so lost with how retail stuff works nowadays, does anyone know what their actual rule is for this?

Unfortunately Sephora wont price match sales. I had issues with this before, so I'd recommend just reordering it on sale right now and returning the original box in store once it arrives.

Oh my gosh, Tom Ford scents are so amazing! I got Black Orchid for my friend last year and absolutely loved it, everyone at the party was asking what she was wearing... anyway! Just to be super safe with your budget, do you have a physical Sephora store right near you in Chicago? And are you totally set on that specific fragrance set or open to other options just in case?

To add to the point above: reordering right now is definitely the safest move so you secure that 20% off before it sells out. I did this exact thing a few months ago and was really satisfied with how easy it was. Just bring the unopened shipping box and digital invoice to any Sephora store. They process the return right at the register instantly, so zero complaints about waiting on mail refunds.
