How often do Kohl's prices drop on clothing?

So I've been shopping at the Kohl's in Denver for years and basically have their markdown cycles down to a science—usually tracking the digital price tags and expecting the standard 14-day clearance drop. But I'm shopping for my nephew's school clothes right now with a strict $150 budget and I noticed something weird.

Passed by the activewear section twice this week and the prices on these Sonoma hoodies are fluctuating almost daily, which completely throws off my usual coupon stacking strategy. How often do Kohl's prices actually drop on clothing now? Did they change their markdown schedule recently?

In my experience shopping at Kohls over the last ten years, they typically push their biggest markdowns on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, but lately, their pricing on basics has been all over the place. I ran into this exact issue last fall when buying school clothes for my own kids. The tags on the Sonoma line were changing daily because of local stock levels. To keep my sanity, I started using PriceDropCatch to monitor the price trends before heading in. Before you try to time the next drop, are you looking strictly for those Sonoma hoodies, or are you open to other brands if the price is right? Also, is your budget of $150 just for tops, or are you trying to get pants and shoes out of that too?

Are you using the Kohls app in-store or just looking at the digital shelf tags? I ask because their local server updates can sync weirdly. Last year, I got burned by ESLs updating mid-trip. You might want to consider:

  • Just getting any hoodies from Tek Gear instead
  • Scanning every item at the kiosk to check the real price Be careful with Sonoma right now, their pricing is all over the place.

I noticed the exact same thing last month. I was trying to buy some basic tees and the prices changed twice in three days. A manager told me they started testing dynamic pricing on certain brands. It made me super cautious, so now I just stick to the clearance racks. It's safer if you have a strict budget.
