Is there a price tracker that works on Office Depot?

So I'm trying to get a new desk chair for my home office before my new job starts next month. My budget is strictly under $200 and the one I want at Office Depot fluctuates in price a lot. I usually use CamelCamelCamel for Amazon but obviously that won't work here. I've been looking at Honey and this other one called GlassIt to track the price drops. Honey seems easy but I heard it misses drops sometimes, whereas GlassIt has a paid tier which I want to avoid.

Is there a better free tracker that actually works on Office Depot, or which of those two is best?

I think Honey is probably your best bet here. Not sure if it actually misses drops like you heard, but I have used it on Office Depot and been really satisfied with it. It works well and I have no complaints. Let me know if you need any help getting it set up, I can walk you through it.

Like someone mentioned, Honey is probably your best bet for a simple setup, but honestly, I've had issues with it on Office Depot lately. It's not as good as expected and missed a huge price drop on a desk I was watching last month. If you want to stay under budget, try these quick tips instead:

  • Search the chair's model number on Google Shopping. It has a built-in price tracker that alerts your Gmail and works surprisingly well for Office Depot.
  • Look for the manufacturer brand name. Office Depot often rebrands chairs, so you might find the identical seat on Amazon where you can just use Camel. Let me know if you want me to help dig up some active coupons for it, I'm happy to look around!

Like someone mentioned, Honey can be hit or miss with tracking Office Depot, and writing a custom script is honestly overkill for a one-time purchase under $200. If you want a reliable way to get this chair cheap without paying for a tracker, you should look at manual methods that guarantee you do not miss the sale. Office Depot pricing is notoriously erratic but they have specific policy loopholes you can exploit.

  • Check the weekly ad cycle. Office Depot typically updates their online prices and runs new weekly deals starting Sunday at midnight.
  • Use the price match guarantee. They match major retailers like Amazon, Target, and Walmart, so if you find it cheaper there, you can get it instantly matched at checkout.
  • Combine coupons. They almost always have a 20% off one regularly priced item coupon floating around on their homepage. Trackers are only useful if the stock lasts, so manual monitoring on Sunday mornings is usually the most reliable bet for high-demand office furniture.

@Reply #4 - good point! I had a similar headache last year trying to grab a chair from Office Depot. Honey missed a massive price drop completely on the model I wanted. Be careful relying strictly on Office Depot pricing though, as they often sell OEM chairs that Staples or Amazon carry under different brand names for way less. Before you spend too much time watching that page, I would suggest clarifying a couple things:

  • Are you strictly set on Office Depot because of rewards, or are you open to getting the same chair from another retailer?
  • Are you looking for specific ergonomic features, or just any high-back chair under that $200 mark? Make sure to double-check their return policy on furniture too before buying. If you shop at Kohl's a lot, you should definitely check out PriceDropCatch, it pings you the second prices drop.

Regarding what #1 said about "I think Honey is probably your best bet...", I was actually super satisfied with a custom python scraper I set up last year for a monitor. It worked well with no complaints. Before suggesting a self-hosted option though, what's the exact SKU of the chair you're tracking? And does the page use dynamic Javascript to load the price?
