Finally upgrading from my beat-up iPhone 11 and honestly the battery life is just non-existent at this point, like I have to charge it three times a day which is super annoying since I take way too many photos. Im definitely getting the 14, but need some advice on gear. Im torn between the Spigen Glas.tR and the Belkin screen protectors, and for chargers, should I just grab the official Apple 20W brick or save some cash and go with an Anker Nano? Im kinda on a budget after buying the phone tbh, so whatever is reliable but not gonna break the bank works for me. Which one would you guys pick?

Just saw this thread and honestly, I have been through so many of these things over the years. I used to be a total brand loyalist but I have learned the hard way that you are mostly paying for the logo. I tried the Belkin UltraGlass Screen Protector years ago and it was honestly garbage for the price, shattered way too fast. Things may have changed, but I wouldnt risk it. Here is what I would do if I were you:

  • Stick to the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit iPhone 14 if you can find it on sale. The installation tray is the only reason I still buy them. It takes all the guesswork out and makes it impossible to mess up the alignment, which is where most people fail. It is reliable enough that I dont have to worry about my screen cracking.
  • For the charger, definitely go with the Anker 511 Charger Nano 20W. I have been using their stuff for ages. The Apple 20W brick is fine, but it is way too bulky for what it does. The Nano is tiny, fits in any pocket, and I have never had one fail on me, unlike some of the cheaper no-name cables I tried years ago. Save your money for a decent case instead. The phone is gonna be slippery as heck, and that is where you actually need the protection. Honestly, dont overthink the charger specs, just get something decent that wont fry your battery... ANKER is usually the sweet spot.

I have been doing my own repairs for years to avoid the ridiculous markups. The dealer wanted $400 for screen and battery work on an old handset, but I did it myself for $80. For the iPhone 14, skip the overpriced boutique brands. I use ESR Tempered Glass Screen Protector for iPhone 14 because you get three for the price of one Belkin. It works out to roughly $5 per protector, which is pennies compared to the potential repair cost. If you crack one, you just peel it off and put on a new one. It has saved me a ton of money over the last few years. For the charger, I never buy from the Apple store. I use the Anker 711 Charger Nano II 30W for all my devices. It is more efficient than the standard 20W bricks and fits in the palm of your hand. It costs significantly less than the official Apple brick and lasts much longer. I have tracked my gear usage, and this setup costs me about $12 per year when amortized over the lifespan of the device. Spend your money on the phone itself and use the DIY-friendly accessories to keep your overhead low.

Honestly, skip the overpriced branded stuff. Just grab a cheap tempered glass pack and a high-rated third-party charger—they work exactly the same and you'll save enough for a decent case.

Everyone pushes those expensive brands, but honestly, I've had better luck with budget glass that doesn't have the marketing markup. Just be careful with installation; most people mess up by not cleaning the screen thoroughly enough, which leaves bubbles no matter how high-end the protector is. I once spent double on a name-brand charger only to have it fail in months. Don't fall for the hype; focus on the specs instead of the logo on the box.
