Which MagSafe chargers work best with the iPhone 17 Pro Max?

I'm finally upgrading from my iPhone 13 Pro, and honestly, I can't wait. The battery life on this thing is toast—I'm lucky to make it past 2 PM these days—and the camera struggles so much with low-light shots now. I’ve already pre-ordered the 17 Pro Max because I really need that battery longevity and the camera bump upgrade, but I’m realizing my current charging setup is a mess.

I’ve been digging through forums and YouTube reviews all morning, but I'm hitting a wall. I saw a few people recommending the Anker MagGo series, but some threads mention it doesn't always hit the full charging speeds for the newer Pro Max models, or the magnets feel weak once you put a case on. Then I looked at the official Apple MagSafe charger, but a few users pointed out the cable length is kind of a joke if you’re using it at a desk. I'm just looking for something reliable that won't overheat the phone while I'm using the new standby features.

Here is what I’m actually looking for:

  • Budget: Under $70, ideally.
  • Must be Qi2 certified (I want to make sure I'm actually getting the full speed for the 17 series).
  • Needs a solid stand design, not just a puck, because I use my phone for video calls.
  • Ideally white or brushed metal to match my desk setup.

I’m worried about the heat dissipation on these new chips too, since the 17 Pro Max is probably gonna run a bit warm during heavy processing. Does anyone actually have a charger that keeps the phone cool while charging? Also, sorry if this is obvious, but do I need a specific brick for these chargers to work, or will my old 20W one do the trick? Just trying to figure out if I need to buy a whole new ecosystem or if I can salvage some of my gear...

Congrats on the upgrade! Ngl, the 13 Pro to 17 Pro Max jump is gonna feel insane. For your desk, check out the Anker MagGo Charging Station 3-in-1. It’s Qi2, looks super clean in white, and holds the phone steady.

  • Anker MagGo Charging Station 3-in-1: Solid stand, great for StandBy, but get a 45W brick to hit top speeds.
  • Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1: A bit pricier but stays cool—maybe check for a sale.

Quick reply while I have a sec. I definitely agree with the previous advice about prioritizing heat management—you really cant be too careful with these new chips. It’s always better to over-spec your power supply than to risk your battery health with an underpowered brick. Honestly, sticking to your budget is totally doable if you shop smart. Just make sure you double-check that the Qi2 certification is authentic before buying, as there are a lot of knockoffs out there that claim to be compatible but just aren't safe.

  • ESR Qi2 15W Charging Stand – This one is a great budget pick. It has a built-in cooling fan, which is honestly a game changer for keeping the phone from getting too hot during long video calls.
  • Anker 313 Charger Ace 45W – You really should upgrade your brick; your 20W one just wont cut it for peak performance. This is an affordable way to ensure your stand gets the juice it needs. I’d recommend getting a reputable power adapter from a brand you trust. If you aren't sure if your wiring or outlets are stable, I'd recommend getting it professionally checked if you're really worried about surge protection. It’s a bit of an investment upfront, but it’ll save you a fortune in battery replacements down the line. Stay safe and enjoy the new phone...

Had a moment to think about this more, and honestly, heat management is something you should really prioritize with these newer, more powerful chips. I'd definitely look into the Twelve South Forté for MagSafe if you want something that keeps the phone elevated and encourages airflow. It's really sturdy, and because it holds the puck in place, it feels way more secure than those cheaper magnetic stands. Just make sure you pair it with a solid power brick—I honestly wouldn't trust that old 20W one to maintain consistent power for the 17 Pro Max while using StandBy mode. You really need at least a 30W adapter to keep everything stable. I'd recommend checking out the compatibility charts over at the Apple Support site or even the Qi2 certification database to double-check your specs. Better to be safe than sorry with these expensive devices.
