Which cases offer the best drop protection for OnePlus Open?

Switching from my trusty Pixel 7 Pro to the OnePlus Open is making me super anxious about durability. I'm clumsy as hell—the main reason I'm upgrading is the shattered back glass on my Pixel—so I need serious drop protection.

I’ve looked at the Poetic Spartan and the official OnePlus Aramid case online. The Spartan seems bulletproof, but people say it’s way too bulky for pocketing, while the Aramid looks sleek but offers basically zero drop protection for the hinge.

Here’s what I need:

  • Max drop protection (hinge coverage is a must)
  • Budget under $80
  • Slimmer profile if possible (I know, asking for a lot!)

Are there any hybrid options that actually protect the screen/hinge without turning the phone into a literal brick?

This comes up a lot, and honestly, finding a balance is tough with foldables. If you want hinge protection without the massive bulk of the Spartan, look into the Thinborne Aramid Fiber Case.

  • It’s super slim but surprisingly tough.
  • Pair it with a separate hinge protector if you're really paranoid about drops.
  • Stay away from the cheap no-name cases; they usually crack after one fall. It's a bit pricey, but worth it to keep the phone usable.

Bookmarked, thanks!

Like someone mentioned, the Spartan is a tank, but honestly, I couldnt handle the size in my jeans. I spent weeks testing different setups because I dropped my old slab phone on concrete like four times last month. My current setup is a weird mix of a high-impact shell and a separate adhesive hinge film I found online.

  • The bulk is the real killer
  • Hinge protection usually makes things way wider
  • Adhesive layers save so much space Anyway, bottom line is you gotta decide if you want a brick or a naked phone...
