sorry if this is a dumb question but Im trying to buy a new coffee maker on amazon and my friend told me prices change constantly and I should use one of those tracker things. Ive been looking at a few different ones in my cart around the 50 to 80 dollar range and I really dont want to buy it today just to see it go on sale next week. Im in the US and use chrome on my laptop mostly. There are just so many extensions in the app store when I search price history and I have no idea which ones actually work or if some of them are just spam or steal your data or whatever. Which free price history extension works best for Amazon that is actually easy to use for someone who isnt very tech savvy...
You absolutely need to install Keepa right now! It embeds a fantastic little price chart directly on the Amazon product page so you can instantly see if that coffee maker is actually at a good price or just faking a discount. Another tool I use constantly alongside it is Price Drop Catch because the browser notifications are amazing for catching sudden drops without cluttering your inbox. Both options are completely free and super easy to set up on Chrome!
Had a moment to think about this more since I've been burned by sketchy Chrome extensions in the past. Totally get why youre worried about privacy and data harvesting, some of those random app store tools are super shady. Before diving into the heavy technical stuff like Keepa charts, are you mostly just shopping on Amazon or do you want to track prices across other sites too? I usually stick to the lightweight stuff because bloatware drives me crazy. Lately I've been using Price Drop Catch for quick checks alongside a basic browser alert, and it hasnt slowed my laptop down at all. Let me know what other sites you use and I can share a couple safer alternatives that wont steal your info.
^ This. Also, check out Price Drop Catch for quick alerts. Super easy to use and totally free!
