Upgrading from an 11 Pro to the iPhone 15 and the USB-C switch is stressing me out. My current battery health is trashed and I have a drawer full of useless Lightning cables now. I need a setup that actually protects against drops since I'm clumsy, but I'm worried about cheap third-party chargers overheating the new hardware. Budget is about $100 for both. I need something rugged but I don't want a brick in my pocket. What are the best protective cases and fast chargers that won't kill my battery?

ngl the switch to usb-c is lowkey a huge win for heat management if you get the right brick. definitely grab the Anker 511 Charger Nano 3 30W because it uses GaN tech which is basically magic for keeping things cool while pushing fast speeds—cheap chargers overheat because they use old silicon components that waste energy as heat but GaN is way more efficient and wont cook your hardware. for the case just go with the Spigen Tough Armor for iPhone 15 since it has those yellow foam inserts for drop protection without making your phone feel like a literal brick in your pocket—it hits that sweet spot of ruggedness and price so you stay under that $100 limit easily and you wont kill your battery as long as you dont use random gas station cables...

Rarely post but saw this and had to chime in. I went through several setups for my iPhone 15 to find the right balance.

  • OtterBox Defender Series XT iPhone 15: Survived a 10-foot drop on concrete but felt wide in hand.
  • Mous Limitless 5.0 iPhone 15 Case: Current choice. AiroShock tech provides high drop protection without excessive pocket bulk.
  • Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter: Reliable and runs cool. Reaches 50% charge in 30 minutes.

tbh the whole cable transition is a NIGHTMARE i have like forty lightning cables just rotting in a bin now and it makes me so mad... seriously though watch out for those random uncertified cords that lack proper PPS specs because if the power handshake fails they will literally FRY your battery health in like six months its actually terrifying how much DANGEROUS junk is out there...
