Upgrading from my old OnePlus 7T (battery is completely shot and the camera struggles in low light), so I've been researching buds all week. My budget is around $150-$200. I was looking at the OnePlus Buds 3 since they match the ecosystem well, but then I read some mixed reviews about the ANC on Reddit—so I started leaning toward the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro instead. Though wait, I keep forgetting if you lose certain codec features when pairing non-Samsung phones... Anyway, I really just need something with great battery life and a secure fit for the gym. Torn between those two now—which one makes more sense with the 13?

Honestly, just skip the ecosystem headache. I've been through three of these different brand-matching phases (tried Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro years ago and the codec stuff was just annoying on non-Galaxy devices, though wait — I mean, it might be fine now). Grab the OnePlus Buds 3 instead. They fit securely enough for heavy gym sessions, battery is solid, and you won't lose random features since you're already on the 13.

Rarely post but saw this and had to chime in. To add to the point above: ecosystem matching and gym security are huge, but battery degradation from sweat is what actually kills these things in a year. Here is the quick verdict on what you should do:

  • Grab the OnePlus Buds 3 since they integrate flawlessly with your new phone and save you $50 compared to the Samsung route.
  • Wipe them down immediately after every gym session so sweat doesnt eat through the charging contacts. Idk why people overcomplicate codecs anyway. Just get the matching pair and call it a day...

Saw your post earlier and just wanted to chime in because I've been down this exact rabbit hole (learned my lesson the hard way with gym drops). When you're moving around a lot, fit is everything — seriously, just make sure you test the seal before sweating through a workout, or you'll be fishing an earbud out from under a bench. Here is what worked out for me after trying a few sets:

  • Jonas Elite Active 4 (around $170) — these stayed put even during heavy cardio, and the grip coating is just solid.
  • Double-check the IP ratings too. Sweat damage sneaks up on you, so look for at least IPX5 protection.
  • I'd recommend getting a secure-fit silicone tip set if the stock ones feel even slightly loose (costs like $10 on Amazon). Just take your time deciding and protect your hearing while you're at it.
