So I finally bit the bullet and switched from my old S21 Ultra because the battery was basically a brick and the camera shutter lag was driving me crazy tbh. Im loving the OnePlus Open so far its literally the best screen ive used but im lowkey terrified of dropping it because of the hinge mechanism and how thin that inner display feels. I want something that actually protects it without making it feel like a literal brick in my pocket or messing with the factory screen protector... price isnt really an issue if it works well. Are there any specific cases that protect the hinge properly without being too bulky or should I just stick with the one in the box?
Rarely post but—re: "I have tested every major case for this..."—I spent way too much before realizing the Foluu OnePlus Open Slim Fit Case is cheap—actually, wait—the free included one is honestly perfect.

The stock case is decent for basic scratch protection, but it offers zero impact resistance for the spine. I spent a few nights reading teardowns to see how these hinges actually fail during drops. Most cases with full hinge protection use a bulky spring-loaded flap. This usually adds about 6mm to 8mm to the total width of the device when folded. Here is what my research turned up for specific models:
