Finally pulling the trigger on the Pixel 10 Pro XL! I’m coming from a Pixel 7, and honestly, the battery life has been killing me lately—it barely lasts until dinner. Since the 10 Pro XL is going to be a bit of a brick, I need a case that protects that massive camera bar without feeling like I'm carrying a cinderblock.

I’ve looked at the Spigen Tough Armor and the dbrand Grip. The Spigen seems super protective, but I'm worried it's too bulky. The dbrand looks sleek, but is it actually worth the price tag?

My constraints:

  • Budget: under $50
  • Needs: slim profile but good corner drop protection
  • Priority: camera bar coverage

Is there anything better for drop protection that isn't totally hideous? Oh, and does anyone know if the dbrand skin holds up to pocket lint?

Rarely post but saw this and had to chime in since I went through the same struggle with my last upgrade. Look, if you want that balance of slimness and actual protection for the camera bump, stop overthinking it and just grab the Spigen Liquid Air Armor. It is significantly thinner than the Tough Armor you were eyeing, but it still has that raised lip around the lens array so your glass wont touch the table when you set it down. The geometric pattern on the back gives it way more grip than the smooth cases too. Regarding the dbrand Grip Case, it is definitely high quality but the price is steep for what is essentially a plastic shell with a skin. To answer your question, the skin holds up fine to lint but the case edges are super aggressive. If you have big pockets, it gets stuck constantly. Save your money and stick with the Spigen. The drop protection on their newer slim models is surprisingly solid because the corners have those little air pockets. It wont turn your phone into a brick, it covers the camera bar perfectly, and it fits easily under your $50 budget. Honestly, just get it and thank me later...

To add to the point above: I’ve been using the Caseology Parallax Case for years now on all my devices, and it’s honestly saved me a ton of cash. I used to go through cheap cases that cracked in a month, but this one costs about $20 and lasts the life of the phone—if you do the math on a two-year upgrade cycle, that’s pennies a day. I fixed my kid's cracked screen last weekend with a $30 kit and a steady hand (dealer wanted $400, no joke), and I’m telling you, it’s all about the gear you trust.

  • Quick tip: Clean your phone port with a wooden toothpick before putting on a new case to prevent buildup.
  • Quick tip: Use a tiny dab of dish soap on a microfiber cloth to get that 'new case' stickiness off the grip sections.

Late to the party, but honestly? Avoid anything with a smooth finish — I dropped my old phone constantly because it just slid right out of my hand.

  • Prioritize textured grip
  • Check corner reinforcements
  • Watch for loose fitting edges Ngl, it's a game changer.

Saw this and had to chime in because the camera bar situation on these new phones is driving me absolutely bonkers. It’s like they want us to carry around a literal shelf on the back of our phones! I’m honestly so sick of the constant wobble whenever I try to type on a flat surface — it makes me want to throw the phone across the room some days, honestly. Regarding the dbrand question:

  • I think the skin texture is decent, but IIRC, it can get a bit grimy after a few months.
  • Someone told me the lint issue is worse if you wear fleece or certain types of jeans.
  • Not sure but I feel like the grip might lose its magic once the oils from your hands settle in. It’s just so frustrating trying to find that balance between protection and not turning the device into a total paperweight.
