So me and my buddy are finally doing this big camping trip up to Algonquin next month and I am so stoked! We’ve been planning this for literally years and we finally have the time off work. We are looking at buying a ton of stuff together since we both need new gear and the total is gonna be like $650-700 CAD. We want to make sure we’re getting exactly the same things so there’s no confusion when we split the bill later.
Here is what we are looking at so far:
I spent all morning googling how to just send him my active cart on Amazon.ca but it’s way more complicated than I thought it would be? I saw some people talking about a browser extension called Share-A-Cart but I’m a little sketched out about giving an app access to my whole account when I'm spending this much money. Then I read about Amazon Household but that seems like it’s for families living together and we definitely don’t live in the same house. I just want him to be able to see the items I picked, maybe add a few of his own, and then one of us just hits buy.
Is there like a built-in "collaborative" cart feature that I'm just totally missing on the Canadian site or do I really have to just send him 20 different links via text?
Honestly, Amazon really makes this harder than it should be. In my experience, there is no direct share cart button on the site which is super annoying. Over the years Ive planned dozens of trips like your Algonquin one and the easiest workaround is basically just making a shared Wish List. You just create the list, click the invite button, and your buddy can add or remove stuff. It works way better than sending individual links back and forth and you can just move everything to the cart when you are ready. Since you guys are dropping some serious cash, definitely look into getting some gear from Coleman or maybe MSR... you really cant go wrong with those brands for a solid camping setup. I usually just grab whatever is on sale from them honestly. Ngl, Algonquin is gonna be incredible this time of year, just make sure you guys are ready for the bugs!
In my experience, avoid Household; it links credit cards, which is risky.
